
Congratulations to the J.C. Martin Elementary School Sapphires for coming back with several awards from their dance competition. The Sapphires competed at the MA Dance Regionals Competition this past Saturday, February 20th in Boerne, Texas against other schools. JCM was the only school from LISD, and they competed against other schools from San Antonio and surrounding areas. Team Members include Natalie Pineda (Captain); Olivia Sanchez (Co-Captain); Emily Johnson; Andrea Moreno; Aria Carrera; Lauren Espinoza; Madeleyn Gutierrez; Samantha Romo; and April Rojas

The LISD Fine Arts Department hosted the Mustang Team Elementary Honor Choir Concert on Wednesday evening. The choir performed some classic Christmas carols, while audience members joyfully sang along to their favorite songs and cheered on the students. The Honor Choir included students from Gallego, Heights, J.C. Martin, Milton Alma Pierce, Ryan, Sanchez-Ochoa, and Tarver Elementary Schools.









It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at LISD! LISD welcomed the holiday season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony along with live performances by school cheerleaders, dance teams, bands, choir, and of course Santa Claus made a special appearance for the children..

LISD to observe Thanksgiving Holiday
The Laredo Independent School District campuses and administrative offices will be closed beginning Monday, November 20, through Friday, November 24, in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Each year, October is recognized worldwide as Dyslexia Awareness Month, a time to come together to raise awareness, share resources, and tell stories about dyslexia successes. Help Laredo ISD spread awareness!



Laredo Independent School District campuses will be closed Monday, October 9, for staff development training. LISD administration, faculty, and staff will report to work on Monday morning for their required staff development.

J.C. Martin Elementary hosted Grandparent’s Activity Day last Friday in the school library. Grandparents were invited to spend quality time with their grandchildren. The students and their grandparents enjoyed snack’s while participating in fun activities including coloring and playing lottery.

have partnered for education!
Every month at every campus, students with Perfect Attendance will be entered into a raffle for the selection of that month’s Burger King Queen and King for attendance!
Each King and Queen will be crowned and will receive a Family Pack which includes two Whopper Meals and two Kid’s Meals.


Laredo Independent School District proclaimed September as Attendance Awareness Month during a ceremony on Monday morning. The proclamation was conducted in the foyer of the LISD Performing Arts Complex Auditorium.
Students, campus principals, assistant principals, attendance officers, and administrators filled the foyer in support of daily student attendance.
LISD Board of Trustees Vice President Rick Garza and Superintendent Dr. Sylvia G. Rios took turns reading the proclamation.
