Honore Ligarde Elementary School

Honoré Ligarde Elementary opened its doors to serve the students of south Laredo in August 1988.  The school was named after distinctive member of the Texas House of Representatives, United States Army Air Corps Captain, and later general counsel for the Laredo Independent School District, Honoré Ligarde.

Architects Tom Ashley III and James L. Humphries in conjunction with Don Krueger Construction Company originally designed and built the Southwest themed school to accommodate approximately 400 students.  The twenty membered faculty taught students in grades 1st- 5th until 2000.

The addition of ten classrooms in 1993 and a remodel that included a new gymnasium and ten early childhood classrooms in 2003 compose the current campus. It now accommodates over 800 PK3-5th grade students and forty faculty members.
